L-1A Visa: Intracompany Transferee Executive or Manager
The L-1A Visa is a non-immigrant work visa that allows multinational companies to transfer executives and managers from their foreign offices to a U.S. branch, subsidiary, or affiliate. This visa is commonly used by global businesses to expand operations in the U.S. or establish a new office.
The L-1A Visa is initially granted for one year (for new offices) or up to three years (for existing U.S. offices), with renewals available for up to a maximum of seven years.
Why Apply for an L-1A Visa?
- Opportunity to Work in the U.S: Allows executives and managers to oversee U.S. operations.
- Pathway to Green Card (EB-1C Category): Eligible for a fast-track Green Card without the need for labor certification.
- No Degree Requirement: Unlike the H-1B Visa, the L-1A does not require a specific educational qualification.
- Multiple Extensions: Can be extended up to seven years for continued managerial or executive roles.
- New Office Setup: Ideal for multinational companies expanding their presence in the U.S.
- Family Benefits: Spouses and children (under 21) can accompany the visa holder under L-2 status, and spouses can apply for work authorization.
